What do you do with all that stuff?!?!
So, a lot of people always ask me what I do with all the stuff I buy when I coupon shop. Well, I plan out meals and make them with what's in my pantry. I try to plan out a week's worth of meals at a time just by using what's in the freezer and pantry. Also, since baby is due soon, I've been making a lot of simple meals and freezing them for when I don't feel like cooking.
Here's some meal examples from yesterday and today...
Yesterday:
Porkchops (B1G1 free Fry's sale... so about $3.5 a pack or less)
Stuffing to coat porkchops ($.50 clearance sale at Fry's. I bought 4 boxes)
Lima beans ($.72 Fry's - regular price less Fry's coupon)
Rice-A-Roni ($.50 at Fry's... sale plus coupon)
Pillsbury French loaf ($.50 at Fry's... sale combined with coupon)
Dinner for the 3 of us cost a total of $5.72 and there were leftovers for my husband's lunch!
Today:
Hamburger Meat ($1.66 price cut at Target)
Taco shells ($.50 at Fry's... sale price plus coupon)
Chili Beans ($.50 at Fry's... sale price plus coupon)
Spanish Rice... kindly supplied by my Nana =)
Cheese ($1.50 at Fry's... we only used half, so you can say we used $.75 worth)
Frank's Hot Sauce (free! sale price at Fry's plus coupon! This stuff is great to put on everything!)
Dinner for 3, plus leftovers for honey's lunch again.... $3.41!!
Tomorrow's dinner plans:
Tilapia filets ($1.66 a bag... used an Albertson's B1G2free coupon at Fry's)
Chicken (1/4 a bag = $1.50 I don't like fish)
Seasonings (free! sale price plus coupon at Fry's)
Broccoli ($.97.. regular price at Fry's... I needed veggies)
Betty Crocker Mashed Potatoes (free! sale price plus coupon at Albertson's)
Total for tomorrow's meal = $4.13
Yes, I LOVE coupons! and sales!
Here's a nice hint for buying meat... I've been stocking up at work (Target) lately. If meat (chicken, beef, pork) is going out of date, we put it on Price Cut and sometimes add a coupon to the package. I've bought packages of chicken breast for $3 and ground beef for $1.75... plus, I use my Target Debit Card for the extra 5% off... a good savings since you don't pay sales tax on grocery items.
This same also applies at Fry's. I look at the meat for "manager's special" tags.
This works really well if you have a freezer, will use it in the next two days or you can cook it and freeze it for later meals. Putting chicken in the crock pot, adding taco seasoning, shredding and freezing makes for easy chicken tacos, burritos, or enchiladas at a later date.
Hope my tips help! And I hope I've also gotten you interested in coupons!
