Pregnancy and more cheap meals:

Today I'm 35 weeks, 5 days as my doctor has me down, or 37 weeks as I'm measuring. My doctor is still convinced that I'm going to make it to September 15th. OK, fine, but what about having to go to L&D last week again for the 5345132156th time thus far? Oh, what happened? Yup, that's what my doctor asked. I let her know that I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes lasting from 30 seconds to 1 minute and the shot of Terbutaline didn't really help much. It stopped them for 20 minutes and then they started again. Plus, I was 1cm dilated. Not much, I know, but still. So, another shot, this time of Toridol. (I may be spelling these wrong, but at least you can still Google the names) It just made me not feel the contractions. The doc on call decided to give me a sleeping pill and send me home, but not until they checked my cervix again. Yup, still 1cm with no change. The nurse there seemed really concerned. She kept telling me that I needed to come back in the morning if I was contracting still. No, I didn't go back. But, back to my doctor visit today... With that information, she let me know that they won't do an early C section unless I'm truly in labor and my cervix is changing or the contractions are so bad that they think my cervix will change. I guess I can live with that, but how many more trips I am going to take to the hospital?? And how much boredom can I take between now and then? I can't even drive myself to the grocery store to coupon shop, but at least my mom takes me once a week to get those deals.

And what have I been making with all those grocery deals? Today, I made steaks, roasted corn and pork & beans for under $10....

10 ears of corn: $2 on sale at Frys
package of steaks: $3.15 on price cut at Target
can of pork & beans: $.50 on sale at Walgreens

Total for dinner for 3, plus shared some corn with my mom.... $5.65!!! There wasn't much left over for lunch tomorrow, but that's a steal for a steak dinner. And to top it off, the seasonings for the corn and steaks was a freebie in my cupboard from a few months ago. I guess if you add the butter for the corn, you can add about $.25 to the total, but still is under $6

This weekend we ate out as we were out and about... Chik-fil-a had there free meal special to celebrate Tucson's birthday, so we added on a few milkshakes and some chicken nuggets and had lunch for under $10, which is a steal considering it's fast food.

Tomorrow we're having a little bit of a splurge meal with pesto gnocchi and garlic bread....

Pesto sauce... $3.99 reg price at Target
Gnocchi... $2.99 at Trader Joe's (we stopped in one day for the hell of it and it looked good)
French bread... $1.99 reg price at Target

That's still under $10 for dinner for 3. Much cheaper than Olive Garden!!!

Last week I made some beef stew that was delicious! I used:

1/2 bag of potatoes: $1.25 (full bag was $2.49 at Target. I love their potatoes. Same price as Fry's, but much cleaner and very tasty!)
mini carrots: free at Fry's with coupon
Beef cubes: $3 price cut at Target
can of tomatoes: $.49 on sale at Fry's

I threw everything in the crock pot and let it cook for a few hours. It was so good and enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. The best part about it was under $5!!!

I can't wait to see what's at the grocery store this week. I'm going to keep making and freezing meals for those days I end up in L&D, am super tired, or actually have the baby. I plan on freezing some chicken enchiladas, possibly some scalloped potatoes and more meatballs. I shall let you know what comes out of my kitchen!!
